Healing isn’t always about doing—it’s often about being.
At A Healer’s Hand + The Nest (AHH), we believe that how we show up for our clients matters just as much as the services we provide. Whether you’re navigating pregnancy, recovering postpartum, or processing grief, we strive to create an environment where you feel supported, seen, and heard.
This is the heart of what many refer to as holding space for healing.
What Does It Mean to Hold Space?
To hold space is to be present with someone—without judgment, without trying to fix, and without needing to steer their experience. It means creating room for whatever someone is carrying: joy, fear, pain, transformation.
In moments of vulnerability—such as giving birth, adjusting to a new postpartum body, or receiving bodywork after trauma—being met with gentleness and compassion can be profoundly healing.
The term gained widespread recognition through the writing of author and facilitator Heather Plett. Her reflections on holding space during her mother’s death continue to resonate today. You can read her original essay here: How to Hold Space for Someone.
How We Hold Space in Practice
Our providers are trained not only in therapeutic techniques, but in the art of presence. Here’s how that translates to your experience at AHH:
- Consent and Communication First: We never assume. From the moment you walk in, we prioritize comfort, choice, and open communication.
- Supportive Touch: Massage can be deeply vulnerable. We listen to your cues and tailor every session to your physical and emotional needs.
- Nonjudgmental Care: Whether you’re feeling joy, grief, anxiety, or simply exhaustion, all emotions are welcome here.
- No Rushing, No Pressure: We work at the pace your body and nervous system need—especially during prenatal and postpartum care, when slowing down is often part of the healing.
Why This Matters
Life transitions can be disorienting. You may not need advice or solutions—you may just need someone to witness your experience, honor your boundaries, and offer gentle support.
That’s what we aim to do every day.
Whether it’s through massage, physical therapy, or skin treatments, our goal is to hold space for your healing—not just your symptoms.
You’re Not Alone
If you’re seeking a care environment where you can show up fully as you are, we invite you to experience the difference of intentional, heart-centered healing.
